Guangzhou and Shamian Island.
thought it would be nice to share a few posts about Guangzhiou and specifically Shamian Island, where the Victory Hotel is. As I had mentioned in an earlier post, Guangzhou is a massive city located in Guangdong Province in southern China. There are over 12 million people in Guangzhou. We are staying on Shamian Island which is a very nice area of town - only an island by the fact that it is surrounded by canals on 3 sides and backs up to the great Pearl River. The island is very nice and somewhat “higher end” and I would say a bit westernized.
We have completely enjoyed our stay at the Victory Hotel. The staff has been wonderful and our room is fresh and clean twice a day. We have a great breakfast buffet with both Western and Chinese items to chose from that we have really enjoyed every morning. The hotel is right next to a Starbucks (awesome!) and lots of shops with fun items for gifts and shopping. Walking distance to a park with slides for Xi Hua too.
