Day 3 with Katie Grace!
We just keep moving in a positive and wonderful direction with our little girl. She is so bright and apt at all she does. She thinks about everything and learns quickly. She loves to giggle when we are in the room playing, but still gets very nervous when we go in the van to offices to do official business. She is the most precious little thing and makes the cutest pixie faces when she is being silly. She definitely will not even let me place her in the crib, so in the bed she is, stuck to me like glue. :)
We made a little progress by this evening that I could walk into that bathroom without her going into a panic and chasing after me. In other words, she was able to sit and play without feeling like she was going to get left behind without me. She will let Jacob play with her more, but still won’t let him pick her up. She is bringing him some of her toys thought, so I think that is good! She likes me and needs me and lets me give her little kisses on the cheek, but doesn’t return affection too much. I don’t expect her to! I am just writing what it is like for those of you who will be going on this journey soon, although each child is different you might have a feeling of what to expect. She has come up and hugged my legs today randomly and it wasn’t out of need, so that was some affection. So sweet.
Ok, so she may only weigh 23 lbs, but this girl is eating! She loves her Congee. This is rice that is cooked a very long time and watered down so it almost looks like grits (for you southerners) and it has little bits of chicken in it or other meats. This is what she ate for all meals at the orphanage or maybe occasionally noodles. She will eat a bowl of Congee, plus fruit, plus crackers and anything else she can have. She will finish it all!
She LOVES the purse I brought her and takes out her little chapstick and puts it on a lot. And carries her purse everywhere.
The girl in the first picture is Micayla (sorry if I spelled it wrong!) We have been with another family this week on all official outings and have had dinner with them and will do some touring together as well. Lisa and Michael and their newly adopted 11 year old girl. Micayla, is so pretty and smart and wonderful! She speaks some English and is also so sweet to Katie Grace. This family is a joy to be with.

So love the updates! Keep them coming!
ReplyDeleteShe has the cutest smile!
ReplyDeleteAnd, grits were a staple at our house when we came home. Haleigh loved them because I think they are very similar. She did outgrow it after a few months and now only wants to eat them every now and then.
I have loved following along and love the fact that sweet Katie Grace is doing so well! She is beautiful!

Oh that smile, aweosme!!!!
ReplyDeleteI thought of you all while I was putting Maya (almost 5 years old) in her size 2 skirt, really she's just tiny around, but it made me think of Katie Grace so petite.
So ahppy that things are moving in the right direction. She is just beautiful!
